I need a translation. What should I do?

If you have a document that needs translation, please email me the document in full in order to get a free quotation.

What additional information should I provide to get a quote?

Any information you can provide will be appreciated. Please include at least the following information in your email when you contact German Accurate Translations:

-Brief description of the document
-Language combination needed, i.e. English into German or German into English
-What the translation is required for
-Date by when the translation is required

How long will it take to receive a quote from GA Translations?

During business hours, I usually reply toemails within the hour, unless I am on an interpreting assignment. You should receive a quote within 24 hours at the latest.

What is the next step?

If you represent a company, please send me a signed and dated purchase order, confirming the quotation. Upon completion of the translation you will receive an invoice payable by bank transfer or cheque. My payment terms are 30 calendar days from the date of the invoice. If you’re an individual, I require full payment up-front through bank transfer before engaging with your project.

How much does a translation cost?

The price will depend on several factors, such as volume (number of words), topic, format the source text is provided in (typed or handwritten) and level of difficulty or specialism. Additional fees may be charged if the document needs to be delivered in a non-standard format or is urgent and requires working on weekends. Please email us to receive a tailored quote.

How long will the translation take?

As a guideline, I translate ca. 1,500 words per day, about 5 A4 pages. The delivery date will depend on the type of document and my availability at the time of quoting for your project. Note that during busy periods I may be pre-booked in advance and unable to start with your project straight away. The delivery date of your translation will be agreed before starting the work.

Do you translate from / into languages other than German and English?

I mainly translate from English into German, occasionally also from German into English. If you require a professional translator or interpreter of any other language, I may be able to recommend a qualified colleague experienced in the subject matter required.

Do you offer certified translations?

Yes. An official certified translation is a translation carried out by a professional translator registered with a recognised professional body, such as the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL), the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) or the Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer (BDÜ) [German Federation of Interpreters and Translators]. It contains a certificate of accuracy that I sign and authenticate with my stamp and the ITI seal.It holds me accountable for the quality of the translation.

Do you also offer interpreting?

Yes, in addition to providing translations of written documents I also offer consecutive interpreting during legal or business meetings. Interpreting projects are quoted on an hourly basis plus travel expenses. When emailing me regarding your interpreting assignment, please provide the following details: date; start/finish time; location; number of attendees; nature of the meeting and any other relevant information. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible with a tailored quotation.

Are you able to work onsite at our premises?

Yes, I can come to your office to safeguard the confidentiality and data security of your document. Please send me an email stating the nature of the document, the number of words to be translated and the location where the translation is to be performed. I will then send you my free quotation.
